Guidelines
Who are we?
The Peninsula Food Group (PFG) is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit community group that bulk-buys organic food at wholesale prices. We operate from the Environment Centre, at 267 Blackwall Road, Woy Woy and are part of the Peninsula Environment Group (PEG).
How to join
Use the contact form
If you are interested in being a volunteering member, please indicate times you are available on Mondays on the form.
Fees & deposit
See Membership options for current fees. The annual membership fee (non-refundable) covers costs such as scales, paper bags, baskets, hall hire, etc. The deposit will be refunded if you leave the group (less any outstanding payments).
Members must keep a floating balance of $50 in case:
a) you forget to deposit money for your order on time (it happens, but we still have to pay suppliers on time); and
b) the final price varies slightly from the order price (see below)
You must bring your deposit back to $50 before your next order.
Floating balance
Ordering
Members have a page in our online ordering system. For each order, you pay the total (at the bottom of your page) into our bank account (below) using the reference FN (for Food Network, our old name) and your surname.
Reference: FNSurname
BSB: 633 000
A/C: 164481202
Bank: Bendigo Bank
Note that market prices can vary slightly from the day you order to the (next) day when we place the bulk order (see below). If the final price is less than you paid, we credit the surplus to your next order. If it is more, we take money from your running balance, which you need to bring back to $50 by next order. We send you a fortnightly email with your balance and recent transactions.
Orders are sorted at Woy Woy Environment Centre on Blackwall Rd every second Monday.
Volunteer members: take your food when your shift ends.
Non-volunteer members: collect your order by 5pm. Bring your own bags/boxes to put your produce in. We can't leave food at the centre overnight so if you can’t get there by 5pm, organise someone to pick it up.

Price changes
after ordering
After you order, it takes us a day to collate everyone's order and place the bulk order. During that time, the wholesale market price may can change slightly so we need to adjust the final order price.
If a few small items are bad, the food group bears the cost. With costly items (eg ginger) or larger quantities (eg kilos) we can claim the cost back from our suppliers but we must tell them within 48 hours (so you need to tell us immediately if anything is bad).
Bad produce: who pays?
We hold regular meetings. It is in your interest to attend a few meetings to understand the issues facing the group, to have your say and meet fellow members. Group decisions are made by the members attending meetings.
Meetings
Dry food
We do a quarterly dry food order, bulk-buying items such as pulses, nuts, dried fried, bodycare and cleaning products, rice, flour, etc at wholesale prices from Honest to Goodness in Sydney. Unlike the fortnightly fresh food orders, everyone who orders has to help with food sorting, and a delivery fee applies.
We do ad hoc orders for miscellaneous items such as garlic, ginger and olive oil (typically once a year), Who Gives A Crap toilet paper, spices and Tamburlaine wine (typically 3-4 times a year).

Leaving
To leave the group, notify Zainem (Membership) at zainem1@gmail.com. Any balance in your account will be refunded to you.
Please use the contact form to ask any questions not answered here, or give us feedback, such as what is stopping you joining the network, or if you are/know new local suppliers. Members can have their say at our meetings.
